Text of Letter written from Valentine Martin Boatwright to his son, Valentine Boatright
Cumberland, July 8th, 1833
Dear Valentine
I now have an opportunity of ____ _____ after times ______ to inform you that I am well as can an hoping you and family are enjoying same blessings. Your Brothers & Sisters as far as I know are all well. I have no news of any importance to write. I think very hard of your not writing me oftener than you do as I never hear from you excepting by chance. Mr. Wallace informed me that there is a man in your county that can cure a cancer if there be such a man and he can make a _____ cure write to me by mail immediately and I will try and come and see him as I have one but it has not yet broke out. I have no news of any importance to write. More than I am _____ that Biddy McGinney is about to have and _______ my other which is said to be Wm Meinter. The ____ of what are very short in this county awing be the excepine quality of ________ through these cropsof corn are likely as __________. Give my love to Meador & family and tell him to write to me and I scarcily hear from him. I want to see you all very much indeed. I have nothing more to write more. ______ my love to your wife and except for your self more than _____ from your sincere and affectionate father until death.
