DANVILLE, Va. - Ruth Guill Boatwright, 72, of 783 Arnett Blvd., died Tuesday, April 5, 2004, at Danville Regional Medical Center after several months of declining health and the last 18 days in the hospital.
Born Oct. 11, 1931, in the Blairs community of Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Robert A. Guill Sr. and the late Elizabeth Woodson Guill.
She had lived all of her life in Pittsylvania County and Danville. She worked for the former S&H Cafeteria in Piedmont Mall until her retirement due to health reasons. Prior to having worked for S&H, she worked as a shampoo lady for the former Glenwood Beauty Shop for over 20 years. She was of the Baptist faith.
She married Ernest Devoid Boatwright on Oct. 20, 1946. He predeceased her Feb. 28, 1979.
She is survived by two sons, Averette Wayne Boatwright of Blairs and Ernest Dean Boatwright of Mayodan, N.C.; a daughter, Betty Melinda Wells of Danville; two sisters, Betty Guill Davis of Sutherlin and Rachel Guill Brown of Robbins, N.C., and five grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by eight brothers and five sisters.
The graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mausoleum in Danville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Henry Taylor and the Rev. E. Glen Gentry officiating.
The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and at other times will be at the residence.
Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, North Main, is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Christine Lee Boatwright, 83, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Lower Macedonia Baptist Church with burial in Lower Macedonia Memorial Gardens, directed by Miller-Rivers Caulder Funeral Home.
Mrs. Boatwright died Saturday, April 2. She was born in Chesterfield, a daughter of the late Clarence Eugene Lee and Nannie Brock Lee Rhynes. She was a homemaker and retired library aide with Edwards Elementary School. Mrs. Boatwright was a faithful member of Lower Macedonia Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, WMU director and choir member. She was married to the late Robert L. Bob Boatwright and was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas E. Boatwright, one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Floyd H. (Diane) Boatwright of Hartsville and R. Wayne (Frances) Boatwright of Cheraw; two daughters, Sylvia (Elmer) Wallace and Wanda (Wilson Bubba )Lewis, all of Chesterfield; daughter-in-law, Vera Mae Boatwright of Chesterfield; sister, Shelby Lee Henry of Morven, N.C.; 12 grandchildren, Christine W. (Tim) Scott, Ray (Amy) Wallace, Gene Boatwright and Carol B. (Robert) Lear, all of Chesterfield, Rebecca W. (Mark) Baker of Anderson, Phillip (Lynn) Boatwright and Steven Boatwright, both of Hartsville; Melina L. (Wade) Warr of Sumter, Vickie L.
