Frederic William Boatwright
Frederic William Boatwright: January 28, 1868 - October 31, 1951
Frederic William Boatwright was 27 years old when he was elected President of Richmond College in 1895. For the next 51 years he served as President of Richmond College and the University of Richmond, one of the longest college presidencies in the history of American higher education. He retired as President in 1946, to become the University's first Chancellor, a post he held until his death in 1951. Boatwright was associated successively with Richmond College and the University of Richmond for sixty-eight years as student, professor, president, and chancellor.
Frederic William Boatwright is buried in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Virginia.
