The Rev. William Gilbert "Bill" Boatwright, 78, formerly of Fork, S.C., died Tuesday at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, S.C., following an illness.
He was born in Darlington, S.C., a son of the late J. Willie and Mary Ethel Caulder Boatwright. He was a retired Southern Baptist minister. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having attained the rank of master sergeant. He was a member of North Lake Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Melba Tallent Boatwright, and two sisters.
Survivors include his children, Karen Boatwright Latty, B. Annette Boatwright, M. Jean Boatwright Sailers, all of Gainesville, and Kevin Andrew Boatwright, Greer, S.C.; two sisters; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2006, at McMillan Memorial Baptist Church, Marion, S.C. Burial will be in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Francis Health System, 1 St. Francis Drive, Greenville, S.C. 20601.
