He married MURIEL L. "MICKEY" STOREY 08 Aug 1942 in Multnomah County, Oregon. She died 29 Mar 2006 in Roseburg, Douglas County, Oregon.


Notes for JOSEPH E. BOATWRIGHT:

OBIT: Joe E. Boatwright, longtime resident of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2008, at the age of 85. He was born April 6, 1923, in Portland, Oregon, the son of Roy and Hattie (Johns) Boatwright. He was united in marriage to Muriel L. 'Mickey' Storey on August 8, 1942, in Multnomah, Oregon. Several months later, Joe entered the US Army to serve our country during WWII. He served in the Pacific Theatre and received an honorable discharge in 1946. After the war, he returned home to his wife and on St. Patrick's day, 1951, the family moved to Roseburg, which has been home since. Joe and Mickey purchased the New Service Laundry and Dry Cleaners, later changing the name to Roseburg Linen Supply, which they operated until 1981. They were members of St. George's Episcopal Church. Joe served his community in many areas. He was the President of the Central Douglas United Fund in 1958 and since 1956, has been a member of the Rotary Club, serving as president in 1960-1961. He was a member of the City Of Roseburg, Budget Committee from 1963 through 1969 and was Mayor of Roseburg from 1969 until 1970. He and Mickey were not only partners in business, but also partners in fun. They enjoyed hunting and fishing together, as well as traveling. Joe also liked to cook. His wife of over 63 years, Muriel 'Mickey', passed away on March 29, 2006. Joe is survived by his daughter, Pam Van Ausdle and a granddaughter, Kari Johnson, both of Beaverton, Oregon. He also leaves two great-grandsons, Spencer and Jake, as well as a nephew, Steve Boatwright of Bend, Oregon, and a niece, Roxanne Worfel of Escondido, California. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2008, at St. George's Episcopal Church in Roseburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George's Episcopal Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
