Helena was first married to William Benton at Excelsior Springs, MO, Clay Co., on 4 July 1887. They were divorced at Liberty, MO. Both her children were fathered by Benton.
She next married Carl Person in Blue Hill, NE. He ran a store there and sold sewing machines and musical instruments. She left him after seven months. They were divorced at Olathe, KS on 5 Nov 1900.
Daniel and Helena were married twice in Atchison, KS. According to her pension request, one of Daniel's daughters was going to use the fact of her marrying Daniel before her divorce from Person became absolute as a means of making trouble between Daniel and Helena, so they went to Atchison and were married again after the expiration of six months from the date of her divorce from Person. They were married both times by the probate judge.
Helena married Simon Hughes about a year and a half after Daniel died. Mr. Hughs lived only nine months after she married him.
