Notes for ROBERT PATTON "PAT" BOATRIGHT:
Family legend has it that someone killed "Tucker" (Pat's son). Later on, Robert (went by Pat), who was a moonshiner, got the killer to the cabib under the pretense of a moonshine deal and killed him. Pat was sent to Richmond Prison for a fairly long time, getting out during World War II. The children were split up and put in foster care. Their names were: Minnie, Bonnie, Pearl, Minnie, Marvin, William, Hester, Henry and Georgia. I don't think Georgia survivied childhood. My grandmother (Hester) told me she died of burns when her dress caught fire from sparks from the fireplace. Pat was married to T. "Aged Whitesburg Citizen Is Called"
Disabled and almost an invalid for several years and confined to his home on Solomon Branch
of the town John Boatright, around seventy-seven, suffered a severe paralytic stroke some time
Monday and passed away Tuesday evening. He was a son of the late G. H. Boatright, Sr., and
was a native of Scott County.
When a mere boy he came with his parents to Letcher County where in the years following he married and resided until his death. When a young man he married Mary, the young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Breeding of Camp Branch. The union was a happy one. Five children, three sons and two daughters, all of whom are married, were born into the family. These are Wm. H Boatright, for a number of years a leading citizen of Benham, Sam, an engineer residing at Jeff, Perry County, and Reuben, of detroit, Michigan. The two girls, Hattie and Pearl, both married, reside at McRoberts. He leaves, besides his widow, two or three brothers and one sister, Mrs. E. E. Bentley, that we recall.
Burial took place in the family cemetery near the Wesley Breeding home on Camp Branch. John Boatright belonged to a highly honorable and reputable old Virginia family. Honesty, integrity, and straightforwardness ruled his life. It was our pleasure to know him for long years and we have not known a more trustworthy and dependable citizen. We extend sympathies to the widow, the children, and all the friends."

generation, then to mine. It was demolished by fire about 2000. The land is owned

Graveside services were held in Lusk Monday at 3:00 p.m. for John Boatright, 82 of Kaycee,
formerly of Lusk, who died last Thursday at a Casper hospital, following a long illness.
Funeral services were held from the Cornett Hillside Mortuary in Casper Monday at 10:30
a.m., with the Rev. Lorne Albertson of the First Baptist Church of Kaycee officiating.
Mr. Boatright was born in Highland County, Ohio, March 7, 1887. At the age of 12 he moved
to Kansas where he grew into manhood. He came to Wyoming in 1914 and homesteaded on
Lance Creek.
He married Grace Barton at Warren, Wyo., December 31, 1925.
He was custodian for the Lance Creek school for 12 years. In 1945 he moved to Lusk. When
he retired in 1961, he and Mrs. Boatright moved to Kaycee where they have lived since.
Survivors include his widow Grace of Kaycee; two daughter, Mrs. Rosemary Smith of
Albuquerque, N. Mex.; and Mrs. Kay Harding of Casper; four sisters, Mrs. Eva Bybee and
Mrs. Iva Davis, both of Topeka, Kans.; Mrs. Elizabeth Wetzel of Burlingame, Kans.; and Mrs.
Earlie Carey of Bellingham, Wash.; one nephew, Reuben Boatright of Midwest and six
grandchildren.
The Lusk Herald
Funeral services for former Lance Creek resident Grace A. Boatright were held September
28th at 10 a.m. at the Bustard Funeral Home in Casper with Pastor Leonard Robinson of the
Emanual Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services were later held at the Lusk Cemetery
where interment was made. Coffee at the First Baptist Church in Lusk was held for family and
friends.
Mrs. Boatright passed away September 23rd at her home in Casper after a short illness. She
was born February 19, 1901 in Raymond, Nebraska, the daughter of Jessie and Rosa Weir
Barton. She spent her early years in Raymond where she also received her education. At the
age of 18 she began her teaching career. She moved to Warren, Wyoming and continued her
teaching in the Pump Station, Bray, Thomson, Dwyer and Jones schools north of Lance Creek
and in the Lusk Grade School.
She married John E. Boatright at Lance Creek on December 31, 1925. She continued teaching
in Niobrara County until 1961 when she moved to Kaycee retiring from the teaching
profession there in 1971.
Following the death of her husband in 1969, she continued to live in Kaycee until 1980 when
she moved to Casper.
Survivors include two daughters Kay Miller of Casper and Mrs. James (Rosemary) Smith of
Los Lunas, New Mexico, four granddaughters Jodi Green and Kathi Pasterski of Casper,
Stacie Smith of Los Lunas and Lori Cain of Texas; one grandson Jay Dee Smith of New
Mexico; two sisters Margaret Hickman of Seattle and Rosalie Nelson of Raymond, Nebraska;
one brother Alfred Barton of Chocteau, Montana, two great-grandchildren and one nephew
Reuben Boatright of Lusk and formerly Lance Creek.
