Ola B. Boatright, 79, of Lexington, died Thursday, June 29, in Norman Regional Hospital. Services will be 10 a.m. today in the United Methodist Church, Lexington, with burial at Lexington Cemetery directed by Yoakum-Damet Funeral Home of Purcell.
Mrs. Boatright was born Aug. 12, 1926, in Corbett to Clyde and Mary Belle (Blevins) Blackburn. She attended Lexington schools. She married Lloyd Boatright on March 9, 1946, and remained in the Lexington area most of her life. She visited the nursing homes in Lexington and Purcell daily, giving residents things they needed or, in some cases, candy that they could not get for themselves. She went to the senior citizens center in Lexington for lunch daily and would sometimes deliver meals to shut-ins. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lexington.
Mrs. Boatright is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Larry and Nita Boatright of Fort Worth, Texas, and Paul and LaRissa Boatright of Byars; brother and sister-in-law Buford and Betty Blackburn of Oklahoma City; daughter-in-law and husband Jeanne and Bob Oliver of Blanchard; grandchildren John and Michele Fellers and Jennifer and Matt Johnson, all of Fort Worth, Texas, Adam and Becky Gibson of Purcell, Scotty and Laura Stephens of Blanchard, Dillon and Derick Boatright and Erin Rockford of Byars; nine great-grandchildren; Bryant and Ann Phillips of Carrollton, Texas, and George and Linda Phillips of Chicago.

Mrs. Boatright was born April 10, 1919. She married Eulas Carl "Chief" Boatright June 13, 1944, in Purcell. Mrs. Boatright was a meat wrapper for many grocery stores. She had been a resident of Country Thyme Assisted Living Center in Purcell for the past six months. Mrs. Boatright is survived by her sons Mike Boatright and wife Yvonne and Glenn Boatright and wife Darlene; daughter Lou Ann Jelosek and husband Mike; brother Bob Kruger and wife Doris; sisters-in-law Dorris and Carolyn Kruger; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends.

Notes for JACK ROBERT BOATRIGHT:
Many of East Point's sons and daughters have served their country with honor and distinction, even to the extent of the ultimate sacrifice. Jack Robert Boatright was one of those. He was the first East Point resident to die in World War II. Jack grew up at 508 Eighth Street in East Point. His parents Robert Chesley Boatright and Mae Evelyn DeMooney raised eight children there. The family belonged to the First Baptist Church of East Point. Jack graduated from Russell High School in May, 1937 and enlisted in the U. S. Navy in July, 1937. He served a four year enlistment and was honorably discharged in 1941, remaining in the U. S. Navy Reserve. He then took a job with the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railroad as a switchman. After Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7, 1941 Jack re-entered the Navy on February 1, 1942. He was assigned to the USS Juneau (CL-52), a light cruiser, as Gunners Mate Second Class and Turret Captain. The USS Juneau was on duty in the South Pacific. Shortly after midnight on the morning of November 13, 1942 the USS Juneau and other ships engaged the Japanese in the Battle of Guadalcanal. After hours of fierce fighting the USS Juneau took a direct torpedo hit near its magazine and exploded, sinking almost immediately. Of the 699 Officers and Crew, 685 were lost. 4 had transferred to another ship earlier in the battle and only 10 were picked up at sea after the sinking. Also lost with Jack Boatright and the others on the USS Juneau that day were the Five Sullivan Brothers. In April, 1947 the AMVETS (American Veterans of World War II) chartered a unit in East Point, Georgia. It was named "Boatright-Simpson Post No. 13, East Point, GA". Named after Jack Boatright and Guerald M. Simpson (a U. S. Army casualty of WW II). Although Jack is still at sea, his memorial marker is in the family plot at Hillcrest Cemetery in East Point. Frances Boatwright Dawson died peacefully at the Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury, Md., on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011.
"Franny," as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Birmingham, Ala., on Sept. 26, 1918. She is a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Barnett Boatwright. At age 2, her family moved to Atlanta, where she lived until her first marriage. She graduated from Girls High School in Atlanta and then studied interior design before marrying the late Marcus Leo Corley of Zwolle, La., in 1940. Marc, a naval aviator, died in service to his country in World War II in 1942.
Franny then married the late Samuel Cooper Dawson Jr. of Alexandria on March 24, 1945. Coincidentally, she had met "Cooper," as he was known, on her first honeymoon to Alexandria and Washington, D.C., in 1940. They were married for 60 years before he died in 2005.
Franny is survived by her son, Samuel Cooper Dawson III and his wife, Bonnie, of Fredericksburg; her daughter, Marion Dawson Robinette and her husband, Dan, of Salisbury, Md.; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Dawson Shreckhise and husband Matt, Samuel Cooper Dawson IV and wife Louise and Patrick Mason Dawson; and a great-grandson, Daniel Mason Shreckhise. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Brantley Boatwright of Ohio. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Haire Boatwright of Ohio; her sister, Ruth Boatwright Jordan of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and her niece, Carroll Jordan Tonkin of Signal Mountain, Tenn.
Franny was vice-president and part owner of Camp Alleghany for Girls in Lewisburg, West Virginia, where she spent her summers in various roles as postmistress, camp store proprietor, director of the dining room, infirmary helper and supporter of her husband who ran Alleghany from 1963 until 1999. In the winter months she was an active volunteer. She was a member and past president of the Hunting Creek Garden Club in Alexandria; a member of the Garden Club of Virginia, a member of the Mount Vernon Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; past director of the Alexandria Christmas Cotillion; honorary member of The Twig, the Alexandria Hospital Auxiliary, volunteer and longtime member of the Altar Guild at Immanuel Church on the Hill. She was a regular bridge player and a longtime member of the Theatre Guild at the National Theatre and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.
A heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at the Wicomico Nursing Home where Franny was a resident for the past three years. She was treated with love, dignity and a quality of care that extended her life and made it a happy one. Our family thanks you for taking such good care of Mom.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Princess Anne, Maryland with visitation one hour prior to the service. A commitment service will be held at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Alexandria, Virginia on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 11:00 am. A memorial service will follow at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home at noon. ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Samuel Cooper Dawson Jr., a retired USNR captain, 96, died peacefully after a short illness at Salisbury Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Salisbury.
Born Sept. 21, 1909, at "Cameron" in Alexandria, he was the son of the late Samuel Cooper Dawson Sr. and Edna Horner Dawson; great-grandson of Gen. Samuel Cooper, CSA; and the great-great-great-grandson of George Mason of Gunston Hall.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Frances Boatwright Dawson; his son, Samuel Cooper Dawson III, and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Ellis Dawson, of Fredericksburg; his daughter, Marion Dawson Phillips of Salisbury; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Horner Dawson, Samuel Cooper Dawson IV and Patrick Mason Dawson; and his beloved dog, Camper.
"Cooper," as he was known to his family and friends, graduated from the Episcopal High School in 1928 and the University of Virginia in 1932. He taught science at St. Christopher's School in Richmond from 1932 to 1936. From 1936 to 1939 he was an underwriter for the Maryland Casualty Co. in Baltimore. In 1939 he joined the family business, the Penn-Daw Motor Hotel & Restaurant in Alexandria, best known for its Chicken in the Rough and outstanding southern hospitality. Cooper was the manager and president of the Penn-Daw until it was sold in 1973. He served with the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1942 to 1946. He was the business manager at Episcopal High School from 1969 until 1983 and was also an assistant baseball coach there as well. The Dawson Baseball Diamond was built in his honor soon after his retirement as a testament to his many years as a baseball player, coach and fan.
Cooper grew up spending his summers at Camp Greenbrier in Alderson, W.Va., beginning as a camper, counselor and then part owner. In 1963 he purchased Camp Alleghany for girls in Lewisburg, W.Va., where he remained president and director emeritus until his death. His greatest passion was to instill the ideals of his beloved camp in all of his "Alleghany girls" -- the principles of sportsmanship, citizenship, the honor system and the meaningful appreciation of cultural and spiritual traditions.
Cooper was a past director of the Washington & Lee Savings and Loan Association, past president of the Virginia Travel Council, past member of the advisory board for The Salvation Army, past member of the American Automobile Association Northern Virginia advisory board, past director of the Virginia Hotel Association, past president of the Virginia Motel Association, past president of the Alexandria Junior Chamber of Commerce and recipient of the Outstanding Young Man Award in 1942, past president and chairman of the legislative affairs committee of the Washington Restaurant Association, past director to the National Restaurant Association, member of the Civil War Round Table, past president of the Sons of the American Revolution -- George Washington Chapter, past commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans -- Gen. Robert E. Lee Camp, commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans -- Gen. Samuel Cooper Camp, Stars and Bars, member of the Aztec Club of 1947, member of the George Mason Memorial Society and member of the Alexandria Rotary Club. In 1961 he was the recipient of the Hall of Fame Award for Hospitality Magazine, past president and 1964 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the American Motor Hotel Association; he was a recipient of the Outstanding Alumnus Award from the University of Virginia Club of Washington.
In February 2005 Cooper was honored courtside at halftime at the University of Virginia's 100 Years of Basketball Celebration as the second oldest living member of the basketball team
He was a member of Immanuel Church on the Hill at the Virginia Theological Seminary, where he was baptized, confirmed and married.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Patrick Henry Callaway Chapel on the campus of Episcopal High School. The Rev. David R. Williams will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Emily Carlyon Boatwright and 2 daughters; Anita Hoffman and husband John and Carolyn Remol and husband John; grandchildren Heather Fabel, Jennifer Williams, Kimberly Weidlich, Tracy Hoffman, Kevin Moseley, Emily Moseley, and Justin Remol.
He was predeceased by his grandson Michael Hoffman. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
Marvin proudly served his country during WW II in the Air Force. He was a 32nd degree Mason. In addition to his successful career with the Social Security Administration, he was an accomplished square dance caller for 50 years and an above average golfer. He was active in his church, holding positions of leadership and teaching Bible classes.
Memorial service will be Friday, May 31, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Blount and Curry, Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 West Bearss Avenue with interment to follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.

Mrs. Boatwright was born Dec. 13, 1908, in Dallas, to Elma Williamson and John B. Walton Sr. She died July 30, 2000, at her residence in Dallas where she had lived 70 years.
Reared in Wilson, she graduated from high school in 1925, and from Southeastern State College. She moved to Dallas and married F.S. "Jim" Boatwright there July 9, 1938. She was employed by Southwestern Bell and Medallion stores, from which she retired.
She is survived by a brother, A.L. Walton of Ardmore.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Pam Boatwright, and Linda & husband Gerald Newcomb; seven grandchildren, Sam, Jeff, & Drew Mains, Shae Wick, Bryan, Kyla & Paige Newcomb; four great-grandchildren, Sammy, Ryan, Brody, & Madelyn. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents & her husband Cleo. A graveside service honoring her life was held on Thurs., Sept. 20, 2007, at Fairlawn Cemetery.
