Victoria Sueiro Boatwright passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012. She was born in Santona (Santander), Spain to Lt. Colonel Don Federico Sueiro and Dona Maria del Carmen Paramo. Victoria was an artist, a scholar with honors degrees from Mira Costa College and the University of California San Diego, as well as a Master's with highest honors from the University of San Diego. She was also a recognized Antiquarian.
Victoria is survived by her sons, Frederic and Warren Jr.; her daughters-in-law, Yumi and Therese; and her brothers, Federico and Carlos.
Victoria was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Warren R. Boatwright. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 am. on Tuesday, October 2 at St. Patrick's Catholic in Carlsbad.

I have not discovered any other male named 'Francis' in our known family. My mother (Helen Winnie Rhodes Boatwright) tells a story that relates and may confirm the idea: 'my parents had just talked about "my" name after birth and my dad was on the way to see the doctor (Dr. W. W. Reynolds) to have him put it on the birth certificate. On the way there, he met his mother (Henry Jefferson Farmer Boatwright) who, according to my mother (HWRB) talked him into changing the name to "Francis William" - 'Francis' for her deceased son (Francis Maitland) and "William" for her husband's brother (William Edgar/Edward). You can imagine how my mother felt about this - she never forgave her mother in law and often fussed at daddy for not standing his ground and refusing her involvement."
