According to her great-great granddaughter, Lynn Tyrer Moody, she had heard that Kesiah was "quite the colorful character". Her husband, Joe, was a wealthy farmer and she did midwifery as a community service. She was an avid fisherman, wading right into the creeks with the men. She always carried a sawed-off shotgun with her and was not afraid to use it. She had contracted scarlet fever at one time and had lost all of her hair, but it eventually grew back.
