Ursa Mae Boatwright was born to Bentley Mumford Boatwright & Clarence Zillafro Ehrman on November 29, 1899, the 9th of 13 children. She was known as "Ursie" in her immediate family growing up according to her brother Roger Bates Boatwright. She was raised on a farm in Lampkin, Comanche County, Texas. She taught school for a year after graduating from high school and then moved to the big city of Dallas, Texas. She was working at Coleman Lantern Company when she met Ben Taylor, her husband of 72 years, who retired as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trinity Universal Insurance Company. They had 2 children, Ben Jr. and Nancy.
She was always taking care of family and friends in need. "Nana" as she was called by family, was loved and had many friends. She never met a stranger and had compassion for all! She loved watching the Dallas Cowboys play football. She lived to be almost 100 years old. She is buried in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.

Notes for BENJAMIN DULANEY TAYLOR:
Ben D. Taylor, 91, co-founder of Trinity Universal Insurance Co., died Thursday of heart failure at RHD Medical Center in Farmers Branch.
Mr. Taylor started in 1926 as treasurer of one of three small insurance companies that would later become Trinity Insurance Co. He retired as vice chairman of Trinity's board in 1971.
"He was instrumental in the growth of the company,' said Barney Williams, Trinity's vice president of accounting.
His daughter, Nancy Webster of Dallas, said: "He had a reputation all over the United States. I've had people from all over the United States tell me, after I told them I was Ben Taylor's daughter, "Oh, you mean Mr. Insurance.' '
Mr. Taylor was born Aug. 27, 1901, in Bonham, in northeast Texas. He graduated from Bonham High School and attended Texas Christian University.
As a young man, he helped merge three insurance companies -- Universal Casualty, Universal Auto and Trinity Fire -- into Trinity Universal. He quickly rose through the ranks and was named to the board of directors in 1947. He was named vice chairman of the board in 1961. His daughter said he was instrumental in selling Trinity Universal to Teledyne Inc. for $39 million in 1969.
A co-founder of the Dallas Optimist Club, Mr. Taylor was also a longtime member of the Pioneers Club. He was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ursa Mae Taylor, his daughter, five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ben Jr.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.

J Harrell McCoy was born in Tundra, Van Zandt Co., TX on August 13, 1901. Tundra was 7 miles southwest of Canton. The "J" is initial only. Parents and siblings called him "Harrell" and friends called him "Mac" as did his wife, Capitola. He was a big & strong man. In his late teens, while working for the railroad, he was challenged to lift a train engine's wheel off the ground. He did it with shear strength and I suppose nobody ever messed with him again. He was liked by everyone because he was a joker & teaser. He always said "If I tease you...I like you". Mac could do & build just about anything with his hands.
He was always whistling a good old hymn. In fact, he constantly whistled even on the golf course. It used to irritate me especially while putting...but I forgive him. I miss you Pop and the time we spent playing golf the last few years of your life! You gave me the money to earn my "CEBS" professional designation and I wasn't about to let you down...passed all 10 courses the first time around. I remember how proud you were of me.
Pop McCoy didn't tolerate disrespect from anyone. I remember as a very young boy, living in Chula Vista, CA, I saw a toy car at the 5&dime behind their house I just had to have. Pop wouldn't buy it for me...I told him he "could like it or lump it"....Pop lumped it good with a spanking. I never did get the toy car.
Harrell attended school at Black Hill's, 4 miles north of Barry located on State Hwy 22. It's about 10 miles NW of Corsicana. The Black Hills Cemetery is located there. Map #10 Volume #1. E.W. Miller was 1st Postmaster in 1904.
The 1914 population was about 400. In 1990, it was 175. Barry's 1st school opened in 1896. By 1906, it had 2 teachers and 127 pupils. His first school could have been "Lone Star" which was organized in Tundra, Van Zandt Co., TX in the 1880's. He finished the 8th grade at Black Hills, Navarro Co., TX.
Met Capitola Boatwright in August 1918 and married on November 10, 1923 in Comanche,TX. Ceremony was held at a preacher's house...raining hard...Doris Boatwright, Capitola's sister, was present. They then moved to San Angelo, Tom Green County, TX. About April 1925, with son, Charles, moved to Dalhart, TX.

Sunshine School was organized in 1892. Legend says that the name came from a comment made by one of the citizens of the community when they met to build a school. This citizen reportedly said that there would always be plenty of sunshine on the school. The Sunshine School was classified as a high school in 1911 because it provided instruction for students in nine grades. In 1924 the Sunshine School faculty included Tom Griffis, Mrs. Lena Griffis, and Miss Eva McClintock, while C. F. .
Standifer, and J. F. McCarty comprised the school board. Lena White Griffis also taught in the Sunshine School.
Sadness struck the Sunshine School on 15 February, 1936, with the death of a teacher, Owen A. Dutton. Other teachers at Sunshine in 1936 were Nina E. McWhorter Dutton (widow of Owen A. Dutton), Dale Douglas, and LaNelle Fitzgerald.

James Willard Boatwright, 94, passed away to his heavenly home Dec. 30, 2012, in Jacksonville, Fla.
He was born Feb. 12, 1918, in Franklin County, Ala., but lived most of his life in Colbert County.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 8, 2013, at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral services to begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 9, in the chapel. Burial to follow at Old Bethel Cemetery. Brother Bobby Amos officiating.
He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 68 years, Lena Mae Boatwright; parents, Forney Ervin and Dollie Coburn Boatwright; and his loving cat of 33 years "Kitty Girl."
Survivors include son, Maylon Boatwright of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Rhonda Pace of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; grandchildren, Chris Boatwright (Cathy) of Jacksonville, Fla., Kayla Pace of Leighton and Karen Pace of Jacksonville, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Clay Boatwright and Callie Boatwright, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; his two constant companions, Spicey and Buster, his loving dogs.
Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Dawson, Jimmy Looney, Mike Coan, Dwayne Clement, Tom Edd Masterson, Greg Masterson, L.J. Staggs and Larry Boroff.
Mr. Boatwright was a lifetime member of Old Bethel Baptist Church of Leighton, where he served as a deacon. He was fond of gospel music and a song leader for many years at Old Bethel.
He was a retired self-employed commercial and residential construction builder.
Willard was a avid gardener with a green-thumb and when the vegetables came in, he would pick and distribute throughout the community.
A special thanks to his beloved granddaughter, Kayla Pace for her kind devotion to her grandfather for the past five years, seeing to his every need. Thanks to Edwin and Pat Fretwell for the love given to our dear father. To Gary and Sandra Wood, special thanks for the love and attention shown throughout the years.
Mr. Boatwright's favorite gospel group was the Kings Messengers Quartet which will be singing him home.

A former Fort Riley commanding general was buried at Arlington National Cemetery at 1 p.m. Wednesday, 12 November 2008.
Retired Major General Linton S. Boatwright was Commanding General at Fort Riley after a tour as Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics, Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Artillery Commander and Chief of Staff of the I Field Force in Vietnam.
He was recognized as the ranking military officer presiding over President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s funeral and his last assignment took him home to the Washington, D.C., area, where he was stationed at the Pentagon for several years before retiring.
Boatright died August 9, 2008, after a long fight against Parkinson’s disease. He was one of a small number of officers of the U.S. Army who were authorized to wear 14 battle stars.
He attended elementary and high school in Manassas, Virginia, and received an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point at age 16. He was graduated from West Point in June 1941 as a Cavalry officer. In one year he rose to be the regimental operations officer of the 578th Field Artillery Regiment. In that position, he was promoted to the grade of Major and was, at the time, the youngest Major in the U.S. Army.
In April 1944, Boatwright was ordered to Europe to serve in General George S. Patton’s Third U.S. Army as an Artillery Fire Direction Officer. In that capacity, he served during Patton’s sweep across Europe, during the Battle of the Bulge, across the Rhine River and into Austria.
During the early phases of the Korean War, Boatwright served as Plans Officer with the IX Corps. He participated in the defense of the Pusan Perimeter, the link-up with MacArthur’s amphibious landing at Inchon, the drive north toward the Yalu River and the retreat from North Korea when the Chinese entered the war.
In May 1951, he was assigned to the 37th Field Artillery Battalion of the 2nd Infantry Division just prior to the opening of the Chinese Spring Offensive. In that action, Eighth Army retreated for 11 days, then counterattacked, driving the Chinese and North Korean forces out of South Korea. For its part in the campaign, the 37th Field Artillery Battalion was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation.
In September and October 1951, Boatwright coordinated the artillery fire in support of the 23d Infantry Regiment’s successful assault upon Heartbreak Ridge — one of the toughest campaigns of the Korean War.
Boatwright was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the Silver Star, the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars for valor, three Bronze Stars for meritorious service, Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal, European-African-Middle East Service Medal with 4 battle stars, World War II Victory medal, Army Occupation medal, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Korean Service medal with six battle stars, Croix de Guerre (France), Croix de Guerre (Korea), Republic of Korea Order of Ulchi, Armed Forces Honor Medal (RVN), United Nations Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, U.S. Presidential Unit Citation and the Korean Presidential Citation.
He is survived by a son, Edward of Jacksonville, Florida, and Raleigh, North Carolina; his granddaughter Noel of Raleigh; and his daughter, Clair, of Columbia, South Carolina; as well as four sisters-in-law, their husbands and children, and many dear friends across the world.
Boatwright retired in Columbia, South Carolina, in 1972.
