Mrs. Mary Boatwright Colbert, wife of George Ashley Colbert, died Monday at a Georgetown County hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Mayer Funeral Home.

Mrs. Colbert was born in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Ezekial Owen Boatwright and Mrs. Laura Burgess Boatwright. She taught in the Georgetown schools for a number of years and was a librarian at the Kensington School when she retired. She was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist church. She was a member and former president of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member and former president of the Georgetown Garden Club, a member of the Winyah Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of Georgetown, are: a son Dr. George Ashley Colbert of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia C. Ford of Greenville and Mrs. Jill C. Caviness of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, E. Owen Boatwright Jr. of Kingstree; 11 grandchildren.

She was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Georgetown, SC, on December 12, 1979.

Bryce Watson Baker, 82, a retired assistant chief electrician with International Paper Company, died Saturday, January 29, 1994, in a Georgetown nursing home.

Mr. Baker was born February 17, 1911, in Ingelles, Arkansas, a son of Edward Mike Baker and Estella York Baker. He was first married to Dorothy Boatwright, the mother of his sons.

He was survived by his wife, Ruth Morris Ward Baker; two sons, Thomas Edward Baker of Hemingway and Mike Watson Baker of Georgetown; a brother, Noel Baker of Poughkeepsie, NY; three sisters, Ethel B. Johnson and Ester B. McKeanie, both of Warren, Ark., and Lolabea B. Hewitt of Hermitage, Ark.; a stepson, Roger E. Ward of Columbia; two stepdaughters, Barbara W. Mishoe of Greeleyville and Edna W. WORCESTER - Robertson Grady "Bob" Boatwright, 87, of Worcester passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2013, with his family by his side.

He leaves his sister, Betty-Jean Jeffords of Florence, S.C.; his daughter, Margaret Boatwright-McEvoy of Worcester; four grandchildren, Moira McEvoy and her husband Cherif Boudouani of Worcester, Kate McEvoy-Zdonczyk and her husband Gary Zdonczyk of Auburn, Tanya Boatwright-Leveille and her husband Johnny Leveille of Auburn, and Michael Grady Boatwright Jr. of West Boylston; and four great-grandchildren, Damian McEvoy and Aaron Pemstein McEvoy of Worcester, Jenna and Justin Johnson of Auburn. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Deyo) Boatwright; his beloved son, Michael Grady Boatwright; his grandson, Jared Boatwright; and his brothers, Edward Boatwright and Benjamin Malcom Boatwright.

Bob was born in Marion, S.C., the son of the late Foster and Geneva (Chapman) Boatwright. A proud U. S. veteran of World War II and the Korean War, Bob moved to Boston, Massachusetts to attend school after his service to our country. Bob and Elizabeth then moved to Worcester, living there for over 60 years. Bob was known for his cooking, particularly his southern recipes, and was the proprietor of The Chili Factory restaurant in Worcester for several years.

Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved fishing, gardening, cooking, baking, and in particular, playing cards with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bennie Malcolm Boatwright, 75, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, in a Florence hospital after an illness.

Funeral services will be 12 noon Tuesday in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with full military honors will be in Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jeffords, 1618 Pionsett Drive, Florence.

Mr. Boatwright was born in Marion, a son of the late Foster Lehonest and Geneva Chapman Boatwright. He was a graduate of Marion High School. Mr. Boatwright was retired from the United States Air Force.

A son, Billy Malcolm Boatwright, and a brother, Edward Boatwright, predeceased Mr. Boatwright.

Surviving are his wife, Annie A. Boatwright of Manassas, Va.; six sons, Don Boatwright of Great Falls, Va., Johnny Brown of Slidell, La., Markel Boatwright and Curtis Boatwright both of Manassas, Va., Roy Boatwright of Warrenton, Va., and Bennie Boatwright of Charleston, W.Va.; two daughters, Linda James of Sterling, Va., and Elsie Jenell Hawkins of Markham, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Betty (Charles) Jeffords of Florence; a brother, Robert Grady (Betty) Boatwright of Worcester, Mass.; a special niece, Lauren Bartol of Florence; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Betty Lou "Bobbie" Boatwright McRae, 81, widow of Edward McRae, Jr., died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at her home after an illness.

Mrs. McRae was born January 17, 1929, in Marion County, a daughter of the late Austin and Beulah Boatwright. She was the retired owner and operator of McRae's Upholstery. Mrs. McRae was a member of Gapway Baptist Church.

Surviving Mrs. McRae are two sons, Johnny McRae and his wife, Sharon, of Mullins, and Allen McRae and his wife, Kay, of Raleigh, N.C.; and a brother, Austin Boatwright, Jr. and his wife, Pat, of Marion.

Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon, November 2, 2010, from 3 until 4 p.m., in the Gapway Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Gapway Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Bailey officiating. Entombment will follow in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.

Mr. Boatwright was born in Marion, the son of the late Jackson Grover Boatwright Sr. and Jimmie Rowell Boatwright. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Conway. He graduated from Carlisle Military School and U.S.C. with a Bachelor of Science degree. He retired from Midlands Technical College as manager of the bookstore.

Mr. Boatwright was predeceased by a brother, Frank Y. Boatwright.

Survivors include his wife, Wilmarie Boatwright of Conway; one son, Dr. Russell Boatwright and his wife, Patrice, of Conway; one daughter, Tammy Boatwright Duryea and her husband, Dan, of Bluffton, S.C.; four grandchildren, Russ and Chandler Boatwright of Conway, Savanna and Taylor Clary of Bluffton, S.C., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, at the First United Methodist Church of Conway with the Rev. Reginald Thackston and the Rev. Ben Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery, Marion.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
