Daniel Boatright III came from Rutherford County, Tennessee, to Illinois Territory in 1814. He was 12 years old when he came here with his sister Nancy and her husband Thomas Gasaway. He lived with them until grown, and married Polly Gasaway. They settled down on a farm north of Brushy creek, later called "The old Boatright Farm", and still later know as the John Hill farm. They lived all their life there, and all their children were born there. In turn their children married and raised all their families nearby, and found the Brushy Boatright's, as we are called to this day.

Daniel Boatright was 1st. Lieutenant Illinois N.T.D. Volunteer in the Black Hawk War. He was attached to Captain Russell's Company, and entered service on the 15 Jul 1832 and served until 12 Aug 1832.

Daniel married (2) Jane Jordan Rice in 1864, she was born ca 1814, Widow of Luther Rice, ca 1864. Jane married Luther Rice ca 1832; note that Daniel married his daughter Charlotte's Mother-in-Law, as Jane was the mother of Robert Nelson Rice.
