He was a longtime member of the Commerce United Methodist Church, Past Master of the Commerce Masonic Lodge #121, Past Patron of the O.E.S. Commerce Chapter # 301; and volunteered for over 20 years at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Pontiac.
Hancel retired from General Motors,formerly Pontiac Motors, and served his country during WWII in the US Army, and loved traveling to Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Loving husband of the late Laura Jean and dear uncle to many. The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Commerce United Methodist Church, 1155 N. Commerce Road, Commerce, Visitation will be Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Road, White Lake. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Boatright will lie in state at church from 10 a.m. until service. Interment at White Chapel Cemetery, Troy. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home for the Commerce United Methodist Church.

MARION- Leamon Oral Boatright, 95, of Bradenton, Florida formerly of Marion passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2007.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Richard G. Mohr officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the funeral home. Military rites will be held at the funeral home by Marion VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to M.O.A.A. Scholarship Fund; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Mr. Boatright was born February 25, 1911 in Creal Springs, Illinois to Hugh F. and Courtney L. (Jones) Boatright. At the beginning of World War II, Leamon was called to Camp Grant, near Rockford, Illinois for the United States Army Medical Administrative Service. He retired as a Major with the United States Army in 1957 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky after 20 years of service. While at Camp Grant, Leamon became acquainted with Marian Alta Temple, they were married in New York City on October 25, 1941 and had five children. Marian passed away April 28, 1958.
Survivors include his children, Catherine Boatright of Bradenton, Florida, Carol A. and Dennis Dix of Jackson, Tennessee, Linda and Dennis Hanson of Inverness, Florida, Lee Allen and Barbara Boatright of Potter Valley, California, and Harry L. and Jeanine Boatright of Cotati, California; step-daughters, Norma and husband Lowell Kerr of Marion and Ardis Fox of Melbourne, Florida; sister, Janie Marie Dippie of Marion; grandchildren, Andrea Hanson, Marcus and Tim Couch, Ryan and Lisa Boatright and Craig Boatright; and great grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth and Colton Bradley Boatright.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and five siblings.
Mr. Boatright formerly owned Boatright Real Estate in Marion, he was a member and past-president of the Lions Club of Marion, and he was also a life member and past president of the Military Officers Association of America-Bradenton Chapter.

Hugh 'Bevo' Boatright
MARION - Hugh 'Bevo' Boatright, 88, of Marion passed away at 9:45 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at Heartland Reginal Medical Center in Marion.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2006, at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with the Rev. Floyd Dorris officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion.
Mr. Boatright was born on April 4, 1917, in Marion, to Hugh and Courtney (Jones) Boatright. He married Lois Harrison in 1940 in Arkansas. She preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 2000.
Survivors include his sister, Janie Dippie of Marion; brother, Leamon boatright; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Lloyd Boatright; sisters, Jewell Travelstead, ruby Morris, Bessie Dunning.
Mr. Boatright was of the Baptist faith. He served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He was a coal truck driver for many years. He retired from the Hammond Lead Company in Hammond, Ind.

Marion, Ill. — Betty Ann Boatright, 88, lifelong resident of Marion, passed away peacefully at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2011 at her home.
She was born December 3, 1922, in Marion, the daughter of Robert O. and Fannie (Davis) Boatright.
Betty attended school in Marion and was a graduate of the Marion High School. She was the first female to receive the “Rotary’s Diamond Key” awarded to a Marion High School student, something she was very proud of. After graduation she continued on with her education and received her Bachelor’s degree in Education and her Master’s degree in Music, both from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale.
Betty began her teaching career in the Marion Elementary Schools for two years. She then began teaching in the Herrin Community Unit 4 schools and continued there for the next 36 years until her retirement in 1982, as music supervisor. She has been a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church of Marion since 1933. Betty served as Director of Music for the church for approximately 50 years, served as the church organist and pianist for over 60 years and was coordinator for the children’s choir for many years.
Some of her other affiliations and memberships included Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Kappa Chapter Teacher’s Society from 1949 to present, Beta Sigma Phi-Preceptor Laureate Rho Chapter, life member of the National Education Association and the Illinois Education Association, the Williamson County Retired Teachers Association, Charter member of the United Methodist Women’s Group of Aldersgate Church and former member of the Marion Fortnightly Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Virginia (Boatright) Mann in 1966, and Lois Jane Boatright who passed away at the age of 4 in 1920; infant brother who died at birth; two aunts, Bess Davis Swinney in 1969, and Jess Davis in 1971, both who were her mother’s sisters.
We would like to especially thank her caregivers for the loving care shown to her and the many church family members, who visited, sent cards and prayed for her.
Visitation and services were Monday, September 19, 2011, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Marion with Rev. Tim Ozment presiding. Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. Interment followed in Maplewood Cemetery of Marion.

ANNA, Ill. -- Nola B. Boatright, 96, of Anna, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2006, at Jonesboro Rehab and Care Center in Jonesboro, Ill.
She was born Sept. 5, 1909, in Carrier Mills, Ill., daughter of Robert Edward and Dana Reynolds Barter. She and Vernie Boatright were married Jan. 8, 1929, in Saline County, Ill. He died June 18, 1981.
She was a mental health technician more than 40 years at Dixon, Manteno and Anna State Hospitals. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro and its Philathia Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two sons, Vernon and Dale Boatright of Anna; a grandchild; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a brother, two sisters and three grandchildren. Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Aldridge officiating. Burial will be in North America Cemetery in Saline County.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Dr. Jean R. Boatright, 81, of Champaign, formerly of Anna, died Monday, July 9, 2007, at his home.
He was born March 28, 1926, in Saline County, Ill., son of Horace and Imo Nolen Boatright. He and Betty Glascock were married Jan. 19, 1952. She died Sept. 5, 1996.
Boatright retired as medical director of Anna Mental Health Center in 1987. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.
He was a member of Mayo Alumni Association, University of Illinois Alumni Association, Air Force Association, Anna Rotary Club and American Legion. He was also a pilot.
Boatright attained the rank of colonel in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Boatright of Urbana, Ill., John Boatright of Jonesboro, Ill.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Crain Funeral Home in Anna.
A graveside service will follow immediately at Lindale Memorial Gardens in Eldorado, Ill. The Rev. Larry Buckles will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by Saline County VFW Post 3479.
